As you may know, I’m not traveling right now. I’m writing this from my parents’ house in Central New York. I’m really excited to lay low here for the next week. I’m hoping to get a lot of work done before a VERY busy summer in Alaska starts.

How are your spring plans coming along?

Here are some travel goodies from the past week:

———–

One of the best parts of travel is realizing the beauty of where you’re from. This special piece about volunteering in Nicaragua was written by James White, who’s been one of my besties since pre-school.

———–

Great map from Business Insider: where Americans can travel without visas. (Claire, if you look carefully — you’ll see that Brazil is not on the list! Ha.)

———–

Ashley Abroad shares a comprehensive guide to becoming an au pair abroad — which is a great way to travel AND earn money.

Baby + passport
This baby loves traveling as much as I do!

Ha! Anyone who’s working a full-time job in addition to their side-hustle will appreciate this piece from The Onion: find the thing you’re most passionate about, then do it on nights and weekends for the rest of your life.

———–

Yes, please. Travel all the time with jobs like these, from Gadling.

Any list with happy hours is good by me. Reena at Wanderplex breaks down how to save money for travel and still have a life.

———–

Smart post by Terence at Gran Tourismo: how to photograph people while traveling. (Hint? Have respect.)

———–

Lastly, I have a really exciting announcement to make: I’m a Chaco Ambassador! Basically, I have to preach about how awesome Chacos are (which I already do — remember when I wrote about the ultimate travel flip flop?). It’s a dream partnership, and I couldn’t be happier!

Click here to learn about the other ambassadors (who are WAY cooler and hard-core than me — seriously, I have no idea how I got this gig!).
